Our Mission
The Pacific Rim Hunting Retriever Club is dedicated to fostering the hunting retriever sport and promoting responsible dog ownership through comprehensive training and community engagement. We achieve this by organizing CKC Hunt Tests, Working Certificate Tests, and informal training days that emphasize fun, learning, and camaraderie.
About PRHRC
The Pacific Rim Hunting Retriever Club is a volunteer-run organization based on Vancouver Island. Each year, we host two Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) Hunt Tests and one Working Certificate Test for Retrievers, Irish Water Spaniels, and Standard Poodles.
In addition to these official events, we organize training days where members and guests come together to share best practices, exchange training tips, and, most importantly, have fun with our dogs, friends, and families.
By hosting these training sessions, Hunt Tests, and Working Certificate events, the Pacific Rim Hunting Retriever Club proudly supports the CKC’s vision and purpose. According to the CKC, “the purpose of the Hunt Test for Retrievers, Irish Water Spaniels, and Standard Poodles is to test the merits and evaluate the abilities of these dogs in the field in order to determine their suitability and ability as hunting companions.”
As a club, our goal is to promote the hunting retriever sport and encourage responsible dog ownership through the training and development of both family and hunting companions.
Our membership includes a diverse group of avid hunters, breeders, and passionate dog enthusiasts from Vancouver Island, as well as other parts of British Columbia and Alberta.
We always welcome new members! Even if you’re simply curious, we invite you to join one of our training or test days. We can almost guarantee that the “worst” thing that might happen is you’ll start picturing your own dog out in the field with you!
